Directions to the Venue for NARSA Event

Venue : The Norbreck Castle Hotel, Queen’s Promenade, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY2 9AA

Arriving by car : Yellow direction arrows will be posted on major junctions from the end of the M55. Please be advised that there are lots of speed cameras on this route.

Arriving by car – Alternative route : Because of the extensive roadworks taking place in Blackpool a couple of years ago we used Google Maps to see if there was an alternative route to our normal signposted route, leaving the M55 at junction 3 instead of junction 4 (the end of the M55). It transits most of the A585 and appears to avoid most of the speed cameras. Furthermore, it goes through fewer built-up areas than the normal route, resulting is a possibly shorter journey time.

Several visitors to the exhibition did use this route and reported it to be somewhat easier to follow and quicker and Google is still reporting this as the preferred route for visitors arriving from the M6. To see if this route is appropriate for you click over the blue marker on the map above and then click over the ‘directions’ link.

Traffic report : Frixo Traffic Report for Blackpool : Please use the Frixo traffic information system to see if there are any delays en-route to the rally. You can check on the day before setting off, or check in advance for any planned delays.
Thanks to Frixo for this free service.

Using public transport from Blackpool town centre : Number 4 bus – Leaves Dixon Road, opposite Wilkinsons store, at 11 minutes past the hour and every twenty minutes thereafter. Blackpool Transport inform us that this bus stops behind the hotel and requires a short walk to the hotel. This was the bus they recommended.

Line 1 bus – Leaves the promenade, opposite the Revolution Bar (walk straight down to the prom from the bus station), at 13 minutes past the hour and every twenty minutes thereafter.

Trams : should be running again by then, but Blackpool Transport were unable to give any times. Please refer to the Blackpool Transport web site for further information.

Walking : There’s nothing like a brisk walk along Blackpool’s promenade – so why not arrive early by public transport and take in the sea air. It’s a good walk from the town centre to the Norbreck Hotel that’ll probably take about an hour if you’re fit.

Arriving at Blackpool North Train Station : Leaving the train station, proceed to Blackpool Centre and at the traffic lights carry on towards the Promenade (passing the bus station on the left). Continue straight over a mini-roundabout to a T-junction and then turn right onto Queen’s Promenade (passing the Grand Metropole Hotel on your left). At the traffic lights (signposted Cleveleys and Fleetwood) continue straight on for approximately 3 miles. You will find the Norbreck Castle Hotel set back on the right hand side of the road.

Arriving at Blackpool Station : Exit the bus station (westbound) and turn left down towards the sea – continue straight over a mini roundabout to a T-Junction, turn right onto Queen’s Premenade (passing the Grand Metropole Hotel on the left). At the traffic lights (signposted Cleveleys and Fleetwood) continue straight on for approximately 3 miles. You will find the Norbreck Castle Hotel set back on the right hand side of the road.
